The above represents minutes converted to clock units. For example, 5 minutes converted to units is 8 and so on. Remember, you must not exceed 8 units within your clock rings or a leave application (3971) will be issued. F-22 Section 218 Five-Minute Leeway/Rounding Rule: Each employee is required to clock in and out on time, congestion at badge readers or other conditions can sometimes cause clock times to vary slightly from the established work schedule. Therefore, a deviation may be allowed from the scheduled time for each clock ring up to .08 units or 5 minutes. However, the sum of the deviations for the schedule tour must not exceed .08 units. The five-Minute Leeway does not apply to Part-Time Flexible and Casual employees they are paid on the basis of their actual clock rings. Five-Minute Rounding Rule: Full Time Regular Schedule; if the clock rings totals for the tour are equal to or between 7.92 and 8.08, the system automatically adjusts the time to 8 hours. Work-hours in excess of 0.08 units of the scheduled tour hours are considered overtime, if not disallowed. Work and Leave: An employee may have a combination of work and leave. In such cases, the 5-minute rounding rule does not apply and the employee is credited with the actual hours worked. The balance of the employee’s scheduled tour is charged to sufficient leave to give the employee credit for the total scheduled tour. For instance; if an employee requests and receives approval for 4-hours of annual leave, but then works 3.96 hours, the supervisor records 4.04 hours of annual leave to credit the employee with 8 paid hours for the day. Likewise; if the employee works 4.04 hours, the supervisor will record 3.96 hours of annual leave. IN CONCLUSION, WATCH YOUR CLOCK HITS AND UNSCHEDULED LEAVE
